unit 8

Due Monday:  327-335
Due Tuesday 11/17:  335-342 (stop at physiology of obesity) and print advertisement (one that you find striking - this is worth 10 points)
Due Wednesday 11/18:  342-348
Due Friday 11/20:  348-54
Due Monday 11/23:  354-62 - and bizarre food bazaar!  --> Bring an unusual food to class--enough for at least half the class to each try a small amount--along with an appropriate serving utensil (I will provide paper plates, napkins and plastic flatware).  Ideally, don't bring anything that needs to be heated or refrigerated.  Please write up a short (one paragraph) explanation of your item - what it is and why you chose it.  (In other words, it should have some meaning to you and not be indiscriminately plucked off a supermarket shelf.  Choose wisely!).  Make at least one reference to a term or concept from the reading in your write-up.  Please type.  This is worth 20 total points for term 2.

Due Tuesday 11/22:  366-372 (including the section on lie detection)
Due Monday 11/30:  372-89 (try to divide this up - it compensates for not having anything due Wed. before Thanksgiving)
Due Tuesday 12/1:  389-96
Due Wednesday 12/2:  397-406
Unit 8 test is Friday 12/4

Also, here are the links to the readings from class today (Monday 11/16):
alternate textbooks, "The Truth about Grit," (I need to scan this one - stay tuned), "Does Teaching Kids to be Gritty Help Them Get Ahead?"
